THE SURFASANA PHILOSOPHY

FINDING SURFASANA

Surfing creates the kind of bliss that keeps us going back for more. A crave to excel and continue feeling the stoke. It is also one of the sports with the tiniest increments of progress.

Which is one of the reasons why we have created Surfasana: to increase those increments of progress when out of the water, amongst other desirable side effects.

Yet, beyond the physical, balance and breathwork that comes with this practice, the intention is also to foster a deep, spiritual connection between meditation, yoga and surfing.

Creating a loving, fun, mindful and strong physical flow. Not just riding a wave but bringing that sharp steady mind and agile body to all aspects of our lives.

WAVES OF LIFE

A work of balance, pop ups and extensions. A practice on the mat that builds muscle and body memory for surfing the waves. Growing consciousness to adapt to the ever-changing waves that life constantly throws at us.

“Surfing demanded both patience and adaptation, strength and flexibility, all in the ever-changing, ever-dangerous sea… And maybe, if I got better at it, I could bring some of that rough-and-tumble zen to the city too”

– Jaimal Yogis – All waves are water

WEAVING MEDITATION, SURFING & YOGA, AS ONE

In All Our Waves are Water, Jaimal Yogis writes on the definition of a wave: a disturbance moving through a medium. Surfasana intends to offer an interwoven practice providing the skills for all of us to improve surfing over that disturbance.

We believe surfing, meditation and yoga are all one at the core. And in that oneness, we may just find a way to paddle our way to enlightenment.

One day.
